A 90-MINUTE LIVE WORKING SESSION FOR CFOS
Which AI projects deserve your budget?
Bring one AI proposal, pilot, or investment request.
In 90 minutes, build an AI Investment Brief with the economics, evidence, and recommended next move: fund it, investigate it, fix first, or kill it.
Tuesday, November 17 · 11:00 AM–12:30 PM ET Virtual · Limited to 12 CFOs
FOUNDER & CEO
Aarti Anand, PhD
15 years building enterprise software & AI portfolios. Advisor to $10M–$70M revenue companies on AI investment decisions.
THE PROBLEM
AI is easy to buy. ROI is harder to prove.
Every department has AI ideas. Vendors have more. And almost every proposed use case sounds reasonable on a slide. But before you put money behind one, you need answers to much simpler questions:
- What problem are we actually paying to solve?
- What is that problem costing us today?
- Is AI actually the right intervention?
- What would have to change for the investment to pay back?
- How would we know within 90 days if it’s working?
That’s what we’ll work through together.
THE FORMAT
This is not an AI webinar.
You won’t spend 90 minutes watching slides about AI trends. You’ll work on your own business.
Bring one real AI opportunity your company is considering. It doesn’t need to be fully formed. Bring an idea, vendor proposal, pilot, or workflow your company is considering applying AI to.
We’ll put it through an investment process designed to separate an interesting AI idea from an opportunity worth funding.
And you’ll learn from how other CFOs are evaluating theirs. We’ll pressure-test selected opportunities together so you can see how the same investment questions apply across different companies, workflows, and stages of AI adoption.
THE WORKING SESSION
What we’ll do.
01
Price the problem
Before calculating AI ROI, we’ll establish whether the underlying problem is economically meaningful. You’ll identify the volume, labor, delay, errors, leakage, or other costs attached to the work today.
02
Examine the work
AI doesn’t fix a workflow simply because AI can perform part of it. We’ll look at what actually happens today, where the friction sits, and whether the work should be removed, redesigned, systemized, or automated.
03
Pressure-test the AI opportunity
We’ll test whether AI is actually the right intervention, what assumptions are still unproven, and what could make the investment fail.
04
Define the proof
If the opportunity deserves to move forward, you’ll identify the business metric, owner, and 90-day evidence required to justify continued investment.
05
Make the call
At the end, your opportunity gets a next move: FUND — the economics and evidence justify moving forward. INVESTIGATE — it may be valuable, but important assumptions still need proof. FIX FIRST — the underlying workflow needs attention before AI. KILL — the economics don’t justify further investment.
THE DELIVERABLE
You’ll leave with an AI Investment Brief.
Not another AI checklist. A working investment brief for the actual opportunity you brought into the room.
You’ll leave with:
The opportunity you’re evaluating
The economic problem behind it
The business outcome that should change
The assumptions that still need proof
The person who should own the result
06
The metric that should move
07
Your 90-day proof requirement
08
Your recommended next move
So the next conversation with your CEO, COO, board, or leadership team starts with the economics — not the technology.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Bring one real opportunity.
This working session is designed for CFOs and senior finance leaders whose companies are:
- Already experimenting with AI
- Being approached by AI vendors
- Receiving AI requests from business units
- Evaluating an AI idea or pilot
- Trying to establish ROI expectations
- Deciding which AI initiatives deserve more capital
- Or simply asking: “Where should we actually spend money on AI?”
You do not need to be an AI expert. And you don’t need to have a fully formed AI strategy. You need one real opportunity you’re willing to examine.

Founder & CEO, Kodenyx AI
Aarti Anand is the founder and CEO of Kodenyx AI. She holds a PhD in mathematics and computer science, has spent 15 years building software, and writes The Economics of AI newsletter.
Kodenyx AI helps leadership teams determine where AI deserves investment before capital is committed. We don’t sell AI software or earn vendor commissions.
Our job is to examine the work, establish the economics, determine whether AI is the right intervention, and give leadership a defensible investment decision.
Sometimes the answer is to invest. Sometimes it’s to fix the workflow first. And sometimes the smartest AI decision is not to fund the project at all.
